James Morton Chess, 57, passed away suddenly on June 26, 2007 in
Santa Rosa, CA. He was the dearly beloved husband of 22 years of
Ellin Chess of Sebastopol. He was the dearly beloved step-father of
Gary (Pari) Gottlieb and Drew Gottlieb, all of Santa Rosa, and
cherished grandfather of Jay, Jessica and Zachary Gottlieb, all of
Santa Rosa. He was the loving brother of Michael Chess of New York.
Chess was also survived by one niece and one nephew.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, James was a general contractor with
Storybook Homes in Sonoma, Napa, Marin and Alameda Counties,
proprietor of Chess Construction in Sebastopol and a B.A.R.E.I.S.
Realtor. He was a member of the Republican Central Committee of
Sonoma County and the N.R.A. He has been a resident of the Sonoma
County community since 1974. James will be remembered by all who
knew and loved him as &#8220A fine example of a Patriotic man
who loved the United States of America.”
A funeral service was held on Friday, June 29, 2007 at the
Lafferty & Smith Colonial Chapel in Santa Rosa.
Memorial contributions in James’ memory are preferred to the
Make-A-Wish Foundation, 120 Montgomery Street; Suite 1080, San
Francisco, CA, 94104.
