Alexander Valley School will host its 63rd annual Spaghetti Dinner and Auction on Saturday, March 2 at The Alexander Valley Hall in Geyserville at 5 p.m. This year’s theme, Best in Show, celebrates our cherished county and country fairs.
This is Alexander Valley School’s largest fundraiser providing funds for art, music and technology, as well as field trips, library books, classroom supplies, school garden and site improvements.
The spaghetti dinner is a homemade meal, provided by the parents of the children, and served with local wines and homemade desserts. Tickets for this event are $15 for adults and $5 for children 5 to 12 years and free for children 4 and under. Tickets will be on sale at the door starting at 5 p.m. Adults can also purchase a custom go-vino glass enabling them to sample wines for the evening.
The auction, both silent and live, is supported by local businesses and wineries.
As always, each class of students has worked hard at their handmade projects, which are also up for auction. This year’s projects include the second-graders’ handcrafted quilt and picnic set, a lemonade stand made by the third grade students, and the sixth grade’s decorated chicken coop complete with feeding accessories and chicks. As in previous years there will be a raffle. Guests can also take a chance with a surprise bottle purchase from a riddling rack.
Each year the event is dedicated to somebody in the community who has supported and contributed to the success of our school in some way. This year, that honor goes to the Green Family, who, in addition to being committed local volunteers, farmers and entrepreneurs, also include one of California’s first female winemakers, Alison Green Doran, and the original Mr. Healdsburg, Clay Green.
State Sen. Mike McGuire is returning as the auctioneer. Last year, he encouraged the crowd to raise their bids and helped the school to raise more than $50,000 from the event.
