In the early morning hours of Friday March 1 there were five different incidents of vandalism all over the city where vehicles had their windows smashed, causing thousands of dollars in damage.
Using a vehicle description given by a victim Sgt. Castaneda followed up on the incidents the next morning, contacting a school administrator who led him to a possible suspect. He located the suspect vehicle in town, and then tracked down the suspect who was likely driving it.
He followed up with the probation department after learning the suspect had an ankle monitor, placing him at the scene of the crimes. He also recovered blood from the suspect vehicle as well as a victim vehicle.
This led to a second suspect turning himself in for the crime. Arrested were 18- year-old Joahan Maldonado Nieto and 22-year-old Rufino Angel Perez Buenrostro, both Healdsburg residents.
Through great investigative work we were glad to be able to bring resolution to five separate victims of this crime.
