Thong Thi Nguyen was born August 2, 1904 in Hai Phong, North
Vietnam, and passed away peacefully on Feb. 20, 2007. She is the
last of 13 siblings. Her family includes: 11 children, 42 grand, 40
great, and 18 great-great grandchildren. She arrived in Seattle in
1975 as a war refugee and lived with her children and family. She
then lived in Windsor for the last 12 years with her daughter and
son, Tam and Mike Shook, and grand children, Kim and Aimee. She was
very proud to become an American citizen in 1998 at the age of 94.
She enjoyed very good health, exercised and prayed daily, and loved
poetry, music, singing, flowers, and watching the hummingbirds. She
was a very gentle, loving and caring person, who enjoyed life, and
never lost her sense of humor or hearty laugh. She will be
remembered as a very precious person, who had a big smile for
everyone, and she will be missed greatly. Contributions may be made
to the Redwood Empire Food Bank, or Sutter VNA Hospice. A Buddhist
ceremony was held Feb. 25 at Santa Rosa Mortuary.
