A memorial for the Mexican-American leader, Rafael Morales, will
be held next Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Mary Agatha Furth Center of
Our Lady of Guadalupe parish, at 8400 Old Redwood Highway in
Windsor from 3 to 5 p.m. Rafael Morales was a Mixtec leader in
Oaxaca and in California. He was co-founder of the first
Mexican-American organization in Sonoma County, Latinos Unidos de
Sonoma County. He also served on the board of KBBF. He passed away
at his home in Windsor on Dec. 5, 2006. He is buried in
Tequixtepec, Oaxaca Mexico. There will be a series of speakers and
open microphone for those who wish to share their thoughts as to
the meaning of his life. Among the speakers will be Samuel Orozco,
host of the national Spanish language talk show, Linea Abierta,
which is broadcast over KBBF. Jerry Cox, a community organizer and
others will also share the microphone. A media presentation will
outline some of the community activities of his life. For more
