Alla Bonds passed away in Healdsburg on July 1, 2008 at the age
of 103. Alla was born in Siberia and came to America as a young
woman where she earned money as a singer at an early San Francisco
radio station. She studied music in Russia and was fond of opera.
She worked for many happy years as a clerk in the San Francisco
City Hall Assessor’s Office. She became a U.S. citizen in the early
1940’s, and her family settled in Healdsburg in the 1950’s.
On Wednesday, July 9, there was a viewing/visitation from 4 to 8
p.m. with an Orthodox Panahida at 5 p.m. at Eggen and Lance Chapel,
1540 Mendocino Ave. in Santa Rosa. A traditional Orthodox service
took place at 11 a.m. the following day, July 10, at the church in
the Serbian Cemetery in Colma.
