Gertrude Mittelstadt died unexpectedly June 21, 2008 in Santa
Rosa at the age of 78. She was born, raised and educated in
Schneitheim, Germany and had been a Sonoma County resident for the
past 43 years.
Mittelstadt was a member of Hessel Church and was involved with
Kaleb’s Kids at Mt. Gilead for many years. She was a lifelong
homemaker who found joy in loving and helping her family. She
graced her family and friends with homemade European cakes,
pastries and meals.
Helpmate to her husband Paul Mittelstadt for 49 years until his
passing in 1988, Mittelstadt was a woman of faith who served her
Lord and Savior. She was also an avid gardener. Mittelstadt is
survived by her son, Wolfgang (Liz) Mittelstadt; daughter, Gisela
(John) Nelson; four granddaughters, Brigitte Mittelstadt, Heidi
(David) Ower, Christi Nelson, and Angie (Rich)
Andre;great-grandchildren, Brynn, Cannon and Maeve Andre; sister,
Marianne Bueschel; niece, Marita Stanford; and numerous sisters and
relatives in Germany.
A viewing will be held Friday, June 27, 2008 from 8:30 – 9:45
a.m. with Graveside Services for family and close friends starting
at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park, 1700 Pleasant Hill Rd.,
Sebastopol.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 27, 2008 at 11 a.m.
at Hessel Church, 5060 Hessel Ave., Sebastopol.  Donations may be
made in Gertrud’s name to the Hessel Building Fund or Mt.
Gilead.
