Flora Doss Monroe

Flora Doss Monroe died on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 in
Healdsburg, CA, at age 85, after a brief illness.
She was the loving wife for 38 years of the late Robert Doss
Sr., and for 10 years of the late Dr. Stanley Monroe. She is
survived by her children Judy Doss, Bob Doss (Denise), Kathryn
Vitzthum (Gary), and Richard Doss (Claudia); sisters Eloise
Thornquist and Doris Brandenburg (Charles); 10 grandchildren and
nine great-grandchildren.
Born Flora Louise Quinn in Dallas, TX, she graduated from
Ursuline Academy in Dallas. She married Robert Doss in 1942, and
spent 20 years as a Navy wife and mother, living in Seattle, WA,
Corpus Christi, TX, Pensacola, FL, Guam and Saipan, before settling
in the San Diego area in 1955. She lived in Chula Vista, CA, until
2006, when she moved to Healdsburg to be closer to her family. A
funeral mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16 at
St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 293 East H Street, Chula Vista,
CA, with interment to follow at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3600
Bonita Road, Bonita, CA. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made
to the American Cancer Society.
