This week’s paper is the first for our newly hired staff writer
Nathan Wright, however long time readers can be forgiven for
experiencing a feeling of deja vu because Nathan isn’t so much
“new” as he is improved.
Nathan worked for the Windsor Times from 2003 to 2005 as a
general assignment reporter. When he left he was already an
award-winning writer for his work on school finance but since
leaving us he has gained new skills and experience working in
Southern California.
He spent two years working for the Dana Point Times in Orange
County before realizing there is more to life than palm trees,
fogless beaches and eternal sunshine. Nathan has a B.A. in
Journalism from San Francisco State and we are fortunate to have
him back on staff.
Also making a return go the printed page this week is the Jaguar
Prints student newspaper. Windsor High School has had some sort of
journalism program for most of its existence and over time the
program evolved from a print publication, to a website to a
broadcast class. However, the program suffered from declining
enrollment and was cut from the curriculum this year due to budget
constraints.
For all the twittering masses, accurate information presented in
a clear and concise manner is still of tremendous value. In an
effort to foster those skills within the next generation of
writers, The Windsor Times has partnered with Windsor High School
to continue the journalism program as an after school activity.
The students will be responsible for producing all Jaguar Prints
content and will be covering issues from the perspective of
students.
The Prints paper will be appearing approximately about every six
weeks and can be found on pages A11 and A12 this week.
