As we continue our mission to ensure every animal receives protection, compassion, love and care, the Sonoma Humane Society is proud to announce the final transfer of the unfinished shelter building on Bacchus Landing Way in Healdsburg from the Healdsburg Animal Shelter to the Sonoma Humane Society. With the final paperwork completed to transfer the building and remaining assets, our next steps include ensuring the safety and integrity of the building and developing plans to finish the facility in a manner which pays tribute to the generosity of Rodney and Charlotte Strong, and the generous and caring community who supported the project since its inception.
The opportunity to continue our efforts for humane animal care, advocacy and education and provide Healdsburg and the community with a beautiful Animal Resource Center is one we are truly grateful for.
As this new phase of the project begins, we look forward to working with the community and ask for your continued support and patience.  We will be as transparent as possible throughout this process and are already working on a timeline and developing action steps needed to open the shelter. With the understanding this process will take some time to achieve, we will provide information on our website: www.sonomahumane.org as we move through this exciting project. The Healdsburg Center will be a remarkable addition for the Sonoma Humane Society.  Sonoma Humane Society is a donor-supported safe haven for animals which has been serving Sonoma County since 1931. It is our firm belief that no effort is too great when a life is at stake. We are a no-kill shelter; we treat each animal individually and care for them as if they were our own.
Along with our partner, Petaluma Animal Services Foundation, we remain committed to serving the Healdsburg community in our mobile offices at the Healdsburg Center Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., at 14242 Bacchus Landing Way. We offer adoption services, owner and stray animal reunions and appointments for owners who must surrender their pet(s). Homeless animals brought to the Healdsburg Center receive all the benefits of the Sonoma Humane Society’s long established animal care programs. Those in need are transported back to the Sonoma Humane Society Santa Rosa Center — where their ongoing veterinary care and training is supported by our compassionate staff and volunteers. We want to ensure every animal has the support services they need to live happy and healthy lives.
We are committed to bringing the vision for the Healdsburg facility to fruition and invite your questions, input and ask for your ongoing support.  We are grateful for the donors, volunteers and adoption heroes who help us change lives every day. We thank the Healdsburg community for your past efforts and we look forward to restoring and enhancing animal care services for our North County community.

Kiska Icard is the Executive Director fo the Sonoma Humane Society.
