As we observe National Volunteer Week (April 6-12), the staff of the Healdsburg Senior Center would like to extend our heartfelt thank you and appreciation to our volunteers for all they do to serve our guests, as well as assist us in our daily operations.
Each of our regular 10 front desk volunteers brings their own personal touch to the center and members alike. They put in a combined total of 30 hours per week staffing the front desk. Whether it is when they greet you as you walk in the door with their warm, welcoming smile or as they answer the phone and you hear a kindhearted, helpful gentle voice on the other end.
We also wish to say thank you to the members of a very special nonprofit organization called “Friends of the Healdsburg Senior Center,” whose members have volunteered numerous hours to the center and have financially supported many activities offered at the senior center including the annual Valentine’s Day Brunch, Mother’s Day Tea and Father’s Day Luncheon, as well as their annual Christmas basket giveaway to homebound seniors, just to name a few. They also run and oversee the boutique located at the center. They are small in number but a mighty group of 12-plus folks whose sole purpose is to enrich the lives of all seniors in our community.
We can’t forget those volunteers who help us out on a weekly or monthly basis.   They are the folks who serve as a class or program leader, or as a professional sharing their talents such as legal counseling, computer lab maintenance, blood pressure screening, or on an annual basis as a volunteer at a special event including the annual Senior Appreciation Dinner.
And finally, to the Council on Aging’s volunteer Healdsburg Meals on Wheels program. While we are two separate entities, we do appreciate and thank you for your dedication to our Healdsburg homebound seniors which you serve each week. We could not do it without all of you!
By now you can see that we rely heavily on the spirit of volunteerism and we feel blessed to have so many community members volunteering at the senior center.
So once again, to all of our superstar volunteers, we extend a heartfelt thank you for choosing to spend your time with us volunteering and for what you bring to the senior center. You are what makes our center what it is today and we appreciate and thank each and every one of you.
