Relay event
Editor: On Sunday, April 21, look for people wearing lots of purple walking around the Town Green.
In addition to celebrating Earth Day and the Farmers Market opening, people in purple will be passing out information about Relay for Life of Windsor. Relay is the signature fundraising event of the American Cancer Society. At our Relay event, cancer survivors and caregivers come together to share their personal stories about a disease which affects so many. In the evening, luminaria line the track, each one lit in honor or memory of those who have faced cancer–those who lost their battle, those who won and those who continue fighting.
If you have any questions about Relay for Life, please ask one of our volunteers. Relay for Life of Windsor will be held the weekend of July 20-21 in Keiser Park.

Human Race
Editor: Spring. Here we are again. Where does the time go? Spring always reminds me of two things: my excitement to get out in my garden, and what’s become a spring ritual – The Human Race.  I’ve run in the Human Race for more than 20 years, and this year I do so to support the good work of the Windsor Service Alliance.
The Windsor Service Alliance is YOUR all volunteer service organization right here in Windsor, since 1991. The WSA’s programs include the Food Pantry, Emergency Assistance Program, Garden Program, School Back Pack Project, Gasoline Vouchers and Christmas Food Baskets. I am proud to call Windsor home because of the wonderful community spirit we share. That spirit is evident when neighbors help those in need. I encourage you to stop by The Pantry (at 8987 Windsor Road) on a Friday, and there you will meet my inspiration, Barb Brown, Windsor’s own likeness of Mother Teresa. Barb’s been running the Pantry since 2005.
Your donations are essential to continue these worthwhile programs. So, I’ll be sprinting from the start line bright and early on May 11. Can I count on your support? A pledge from you would mean so much, since every bit helps. I appreciate you!

Barn dance success
Editor: Our hearts overflow with gratitude to the individuals and businesses in our community for their overwhelming support of the Healdsburg Future Farmer’s Country Fair. This past Saturday we held our 21st Annual Barn Dance at Soda Rock Winery in the heart of Alexander Valley. We hit record numbers with attendance and fundraising. We were bursting at the seams with over 300 guests in attendance and fundraising over $20,000.
On behalf of the HFFCF Fair Board we thank all the businesses that donated items to our Silent and Live Auction, wineries that donated 100 percent the wine that was poured at our No Host Bar, the 25-plus 4-H and FFA students that helped us serve our guests, community members that donated time and equipment for catering, Amoruso for printing all our media, and Wilson Artisan Wineries for donating use of Soda Rock Winery for this amazing event.
I’d like to send a big hoot and holler to everyone in the community for supporting our 64th Healdsburg Future Farmer’s Country Fair which allows youth in our community to pursue their dreams in agriculture, leadership, and education. We look forward to seeing you at the Twilight Parade on Thursday, May 23rd, as we kick off our 64th Healdsburg Fair with “denim jeans and country dreams” style!
