Girl Scouts win Award
Editor: Julia Hoff, Ambassador Girl Scout and Windsor High senior, has just completed her Gold Award Project. Julia worked with the new Sutter Pacific Hospital to install a childrens’ playroom inside the Shea Family House. The house was built to provide a peaceful respite and living arrangements for families whose newborns are in the neonatal intensive care unit. Julia gathered donations from local businesses, family, friends and neighbors in order to fill the new playroom. Julia also created a childrens’ coloring activity book in Spanish and English and provided an art therapy project for both children and adults.

Compassionate Community
Editor: On behalf of the Smith Family of Windsor, we thank the communities near and far who have given to the fire victims on Kristine Way. The Nov. 18 fire lasted several hours and was serviced by 11 fire engines and also severely damaged a neighboring house. (This second house was soon to be moved in by a family within a few days). We extend our thanks to the students of Windsor Middle School and the teachers and parents of these thoughtful children who donated change, checks, clothing, blankets and food. We thank the shoppers at Raley’s who tossed in spare change when our children played music before Thanksgiving. We thank the teachers in Santa Rosa who gave furniture, kitchenware and bedding. The Smith family is so very grateful for the thoughts, prayers, love and support. They are recovering from this tragedy with strength and have been reminded that people really do care.
With all of the above said, we are so amazed and proud of our community.
