Editor: On behalf of all Healdsburg area Girl Scout Troops, I
thank you for your enthusiastic response in the Girl Scout
cookie-selling season. Girls learned valuable lessons in
salesmanship, marketing and money management. They gained
confidence as they sold cookies, some for the first time. Girl
Scouts of the USA remarks that 70 percent of successful
businesswomen in the USA had their first selling experience as Girl
Scouts.
My Troop, 10481, particularly thanks Exchange Bank and Garrett
Ace Hardware for their support during our site sales. We give a
special thank you to the Healdsburg Rotary Club for their purchase
of 21 cases of cookies through the “Gift of Caring” program, which
sends cookies to military personnel overseas. These girls have
earned enough money to go on an overnight badge workshop trip to
the SF Zoo where they get to spend the night in the zoo and learn
about caring for the animals. They have also earned enough money to
sustain their participation in Girl Scouts for the next year
without monetary support from their parents. They are very proud of
that and I am proud to live in a town that supports its youth so
well. Thank you!
