Editor: We wish to publicly recognize and congratulate HUSD
staff and community for the increase in the district’s yearly test
scores. We are proud to announce an increase in our API (Academic
Performance Index) in all 21 measures. This increase includes gains
at all school sites and within all demographic sub-groups. Gains in
API range from 5 points to 49 points for the 2008/2009 school
year.
This achievement is the result of focused efforts and commitment
to meeting the needs of all children.
Specifically, we want to thank:
• Healdsburg’s parents and guardians for their at-home and
at-school support.
• The teaching staff for going above and beyond to provide
optimal learning conditions.
• The support staff for ensuring the smooth functioning,
cleanliness, safety, and positive morale of our school
communities.
• The administrative staff for their leadership and support:
Principals – Peter Fong, Aracely Romo-Flores, Deborah Hall, John
Curry and Matt Myres; Asst. Principals – Kestrel Davis and Carole
Read; District Administration – Steve Barekman, Annie Millar, Jan
Erickson and Lois Gause
• The Board of Trustees for establishing and promoting the
district vision and goals: Mary Burke, President, Judy Velasquez,
Vice President, Ted Crowell, Lorri Emmerich and Genevieve
Llerena.
• The Healdsburg Education Foundation for their tireless
commitment to provide the District with much needed resources.
• The wonderful Healdsburg students who put their best efforts
into their studies.
• Our many partners (Rotary, AAUW, Kiwanis, PTO’s, Boosters, and
others) who provided extra academic support to our students and
programs.
Thank you all for making possible this significant contribution
to our mission of continued academic improvement.
Congratulations!
Jeff Harding, Ed.D
