Concerned with the cats
Editor: It was with a great deal of dismay that I read last week’s letter from Darryl Roberts regarding his resignation from the local shelter. Over the last year and a half I’ve worked with Darryl and the shelter to control the feral cat population in my neighborhood. During that time I’ve taken over 40 cats and kittens to the shelter, Darryl’s first concern was always the animals’ well being and where they could be placed. If the kittens were a little older and wilder he worked with them so they could go into foster homes and eventually be adopted. I never found Darryl to be arrogant or rude, he was simply focused on the animals and their welfare.
If donors were offended by his sense of responsibility to the animals meaning less attention was given to them, perhaps they should examine their own priorities. I attended the presentation to the city council from the shelter tonight and was quite interested to hear that they had just hired a “well qualified” vet tech. The timing of this coming so soon after Darryl’s resignation seems a little serendipitous.
I am sorry Darryl is gone, I could always count on him to care for the many animals I took to the shelter. I will certainly think twice about making a donation to HAS now given the current circumstances.

Behind the POD
Editor: To our local, loyal customers, My husband Greg Meier and I own The Jeweler’s Studio, a small shop here in Healdsburg. In August, Rick Cooper of Coldwell Banker Real Estate, parked a large storage POD directly in front of our business. It was only supposed to be here until September 1st but it is still here. We have experienced a significant drop in our business since Mr. Cooper put his POD in front of our shop and we would like to let everyone know that we are still here and open for business. We are a small, family run, jewelry shop and we work hard to provide a positive experience for all of our customers. Please look for us at 412B Healdsburg Ave. — Behind the POD.
