Many thanks
Editor: With the Healdsburg City Council election now completed, it is time for me to thank those Healdsburg residents that voted for me in the election. I thank you for your consideration and positive thoughts.
At the same time, I would like to congratulate Tom, Shaun and Gary for their successful election to the Healdsburg City Council. I am sure that Healdsburg and the City Council will be well served by their positive attitudes and strong desires to do the right thing for the community. We all wish them well and may we set aside our differences to pull together for the Healdsburg that we all want now and in the future.

Before the movie
Editor: I hope that the letter I just sent to the owners of the Raven theatre expresses the sentiments of other Healdsburg residents who may feel as I do and that they too will write.
“I regret to say that I will not be patronizing The Raven Film Center in the foreseeable future. Although I am a Healdsburg resident who has always thoroughly enjoyed my experiences at The Raven and is always glad to “buy (and view) locally,” my last two visits have been most unpleasant. I refer here specifically to the 20-minute pre-film nonsense called Before the Movie that you subject your patrons to. I pay to see the film, not this jumped-up, sophomoric, cable TV talk show-like trash that I would not watch for 10 seconds on TV. I am insulted by this material, and by what you must think of us in subjecting us to it.
I ask you to recognize your patrons as theatre-goers with some intelligence and little stomach for mindless trash, and remove your Before the Movie tripe.”

Cozy Taverna
Editor: Congratulations to Sophia and her staff at Taverna Sophia in Healdsburg. This newly established small restaurant has a cozy atmosphere filled with Greek colors and decorations, excellent authentic Greek cuisine, delicious desserts, reasonable prices, a gracious staff, and a good wine list. They serve lunch and dinners six days a week, and have a take-out menu. There are tables inside and a large patio with heaters for outdoor dining. It will be great in the summer. It is easy to find, from the parking lot on the south end of town off the main street, and a separate entrance behind Copperfields Books. Best wishes for continued good success.

It takes a village
Editor: Regarding last week’s editorial about loose dogs attacking Nancy Robert’s beloved cat Luna; we at Memorial Beach Veterinary Hospital would like to commend Nancy on her courage and dedication to her pet.
We find ourselves continually amazed and impressed by the dedication that our clients have to their cherished companions.
In this case, Luna would have surely perished were it not for intensive medical intervention. It was definitely a team effort involving all of our staff and capabilities along with a partnership with Nancy insuring exemplary home and follow-up care. This case was not without complications and Nancy saw it through to the successful end.
The story has an even happier ending. Some of our clients upon reading about Nancy’s ordeal have opened up their pocketbooks to help with her unexpected vet bill. We have the best clients in the world and surely live in the best community!

Thanks to Healdsburg
Editor: I want to thank the citizens of Healdsburg for supporting my reelection. We have plenty of challenges in front of us but we also have so many people that step up in so many ways to keep Healdsburg a special place. It is a pleasure to serve you all on the council and I look forward to the next four years. I appreciate your confidence.

Thanks for support
Editor: I wanted to thank all of the citizens of Healdsburg for again placing their trust in me to represent them on the City Council.
This is a very important time in Healdsburg History with all of the social and economic challenges that we face. I am looking forward to the task and will always put Healdsburg first.
Thanks to all who put money towards my campaign, gave me sign locations, greeted me at their doors and all of you that gave me encouragement.
Please contact me with your thoughts, ideas and concerns. I am here to listen and take action.

Smokeout
Editor: I want to acknowledge those businesses that have agreed not to sell cigarettes on Thursday, November 15, Great American Smokeout Day. They are Wine Country Chevron, 1496 Healdsburg Avenue and Valero at 186 Dry Creek Road. I would ask that you patronize these service stations, and when you do, go inside and thank them for their efforts. If we can prevent one person from beginning to smoke, we may have saved that person’s life! These service stations have made a statement, and we appreciate it.
