A well-attended forum
Editor: The Healdsburg branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) launched its inaugural forum on Jan. 8 at the Raven Performing Arts Theater. Chris O’Sullivan, Healdsburg resident, author and history professor, presented a lively and engaging account of the early history of California. The turnout was extraordinary—236 registrants—and attendees offered enthusiastic reviews afterwards. Jim Walters declared the lecture “exceptional,” adding “I look forward to the remaining sessions.” The first six-week session of the forum continues until Feb. 12, and a second series—spanning the period from the mid-19th century to the present—begins in early March.
AAUW wants to thank everyone who is attending the forum and others who offered generous support for this new effort, which has now generated more than $14,000 that will go directly to the support of educational efforts in our community. A special thanks goes to Bob Santos for his invaluable contribution to the forum’s development and success. Once again in the words of Jim Walters, “The concept of continuing education was brought to the North Bay cities by Bob Santos … and, having the AAUW sponsor the current series by Chris O’Sullivan is a perfect match.”
