Thanks for breakfast success
EDITOR: The Healdsburg Kiwanis Club held its 63rd annual pancake breakfast on Palm Sunday, April 14. We served over 600 guests which included our beloved fire department as well as the Bell’s Ambulance crews. Not only were there blueberry pancakes there were also chocolate chip pancakes. We had juicy sausage, fluffy eggs and fresh pineapple. Hot coffee and tea. It takes a village and we would never be able to carry out this tradition without the generous support of many organizations.
The money that was raised from our breakfast goes toward scholarships for our Healdsburg High School graduates, support for the Healdsburg Education Foundation, The Boys and Girls Club and the Healdsburg Center for the Arts, to name a few. Our goal is to serve the children of the world, one child at a time, starting with the kids in Healdsburg. All are welcome to come join us either at our events or at our weekly meeting. We meet on Tuesdays at noon at the Villa Chanticleer Annex and/or the fourth Tuesday evening of the month. Please look for us at the Future Farmers Country Fair over Memorial Day weekend and The Fitch Mountain Foot race in June. For more information, feel free to contact me at 707-272-8849.

Forum helped provide classes
EDITOR: The AAUW Healdsburg Forum has had another great year of providing college level adult education classes in Healdsburg. This year was our fifth year of providing these classes. During these five years we have netted over $129,000, all of which goes to providing scholarships for women and girls. We have had 3,375 attendees over those years. So, thank you very much for your support.
I would like to give a huge thanks to my committee. Sharyn Sarquis has been my right hand person and has done all the writing for the fliers and media press releases. Other committee members who have provided much insight into identifying and researching professors, recruiting them and distributing the fliers and bookmarks are Georgia Helthall, Celeste Plaister, Angele Rice, Phil Wright, Judy Edmonds and Bob Santos. Carol Noack has provided the graphic artist support, Dan Spears has provided the AV support and Mary Fitzgerald has provided all the publicity and media contact support.
Thank you all so much for being such a great committee. I will be stepping down this year. Celeste Plaister will be the chairperson for the upcoming year. We have a great lineup for next year. Go to our website healdsburg-ca.aauw.net and click on “class schedule.” Thanks again for your support. Hope to see you all at next year’s forum.

Tour supports women’s education
EDITOR: The Healdsburg chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) invites the entire community to join us at the 29th annual Healdsburg Homes Tour on Sunday, May 5. Participants will have the opportunity to view six homes that showcase some of the best Healdsburg has to offer. This year’s homes range from one of the oldest houses in town to a mid-century home reimagined for today’s lifestyle.
Healdsburg AAUW furthers its mission by using the proceeds from our annual Homes Tour to provide scholarships for re-entry women graduating from Santa Rosa Junior College to further their education and to girls graduating from local area high schools going to four-year colleges. It also grants funding in support of local educational programs and donates hundreds of volunteer hours to various programs in local schools.
We want to thank the homeowners for agreeing to share their homes with us. We also have received generous support from many local businesses and individuals; thank you to them as well.
The tour begins outside the Healdsburg Museum at Fitch and Matheson streets, just off the Plaza. Homes are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $45 at Levin & Company and Copperfield’s bookstores, or at healdsburg-ca.aauw.net. Same day ticket sales are $50 at the museum. We hope to see you there.
