Help ag during drought
Editor: Last evening my husband and I were watching a news program where a Petaluma dairyman was interviewed and was practically in tears that, due to the lack of rain, his pasturelands can no longer support his dairy herd and he is strapped to pay for hay to feed them. The same goes for beef cattlemen ranches here in our beloved Sonoma County. I was tossing and turning in bed and couldn’t sleep and truly believe our general community would support an emergency hay fund drive for immediate relief.
I really believe local Rotary clubs, local banks, Chambers of Commerce and the general public throughout the county would get behind this effort. We cannot sit by placidly while our dairy and beef ranchers have to slaughter their herds. Then they will have to sell out and then their open space ranches will go up for sale and that land will be snatched up and sold to developers. We cannot allow this to happen and now is the time to act.
If you are also deeply concerned about this urgent need, please pass this along to those people who can get this emergency fund drive started as soon as possible.

Editor: I saw a couple of Hanes and Fruit of the Loom ads and my mind quickly thought of the fifth district supervisor. Who is paying his attorney fees? Not us, I hope. Efren is an embarrassment to those of us who supported him when he was rational and fully clothed. He should do us all a favor and resign.
