EDITOR: Proud politicians have created the California Global
Warming Solutions Act, which may prove to merely be ³feel good²
legislation. If scientific warnings are correct, the contents of
the new law may be too slow acting to help prevent an end to human
life on earth. Several scientists have stated we have no more than
ten years to dramatically reduce planet wide use of fossil fuels. A
few believe the window to be a mere five years. Melting permafrost
in the Arctic is releasing Methane that is accelerating climate
change. Twice before in the earth¹s history, 55 million and 251
million years ago, Methane, released as a result of volcanic
action, caused a temperature rise of less than 11 degrees
Fahrenheit, and almost eliminated life on the planet.
Burning fossil fuels each year spews the equivalent of almost
17,000 volcanoes into the atmosphere. This ticking time bomb is
poised to produce a one-way trip to hell on earth.
Greenhouse gases are apparently accumulating in the atmosphere
at 30 times the speed with which they did in the earlier dieoff.
The Arctic regions are showing the greatest temperature increase. A
river in Alaska has had a rise in temperature of nine degrees
Fahrenheit.
In merely five years the surface permafrost in an area in the
Siberian Arctic, the size of France and Germany combined, melted
and released the Methane trapped in the ice. Methane is more than
20 times as dangerous as Carbon Dioxide.
What is needed is a crash program to develop and implement
breakthrough technology that can rapidly supersede the need for all
of the fossil fuels. Revolutionary new systems of energy production
are germinating all across the planet. Our own work involves the
conversion of abundant, renewable, Zero Point Energy (ZPE). The
earth is surrounded by this sea of energy, which is only recently
becoming recognized as a possible source of practical fuel-free
power. If our entire civilization ran on ZPE, it apparently would
be akin to ³dipping a thimble into the ocean². Our firm is
developing magnetic generators that convert this astonishing new
energy source. It is already clear to us that such generators can
run everything from cell phones to power plants. Vehicles can
dispense with the need for fuel. Who would not want to own a car
that never needed gasoline?
When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, Hitler immediately declared
war on the United States. Germany did not fear our far away
country. Within 36 months, 2,000 American made bombers appeared
over Nazi targets every day. The threat to survival, motivated an
around the clock production effort that few would have imagined
possible. Now, we need to mobilize to replace fossil fuels, fast.
Slow acting legislation is not what this largely unrecognized,
life-threatening, emergency requires.
