Thank you for supporting the Cloverdale Historical Society
Editor:
As 2014 closes, it is an appropriate time to thank the Cloverdale community for their year-long support of the Speaker Series program of the Cloverdale Historical Society. The eight programs in the Series drew a total audience of over 630 people who were, we sincerely hope, entertained and enriched by the experience of attending one or more of the programs.
Your ticket sales, after expenses, returned a net total of $1,320 to the Historical Society. These dollars will help us to further our goals of bringing to the Cloverdale community the best in exhibits, outreach programs and research resources. I hope to see you, the reader, at one or all of our programs planned for 2015. For membership or volunteer information please call the CHS at 894-2067.
Best to all in 2015.
Joaquin Espinosa,
Speaker Series Co-coordinator

Cloverdale’s Senior Center is a Community Center
Editor:
Our little city doesn’t have a community center but – did you know that our Cloverdale Senior Center, located at Third and Main streets, is filling the need for one quite nicely. The center offers a wide variety of classes, activities and events to the public, as well as to its members. You do not have to be a member of the Senior Center to attend, although membership does have many perks.  Nor do you have to be a “senior” to join the center. Drop by any time and check it out! Hours are 9:30 – 2:30 weekdays. Ask for Colleen.
Among the classes offered are basic computer courses, Yoga, Tai Chi, Strength Training, and Line Dancing. Also art classes, Spanish and Italian languages, and more esoteric classes like Enneagram, Non-Violent Communication, and Meditation groups. For our Spanish-speaking community there is “Learning American English” and “Lotteria.” The suggested donation for classes is typically $3 per session. Our Center is not funded by any government agency and it relies on membership dues, donations and fundraising to continue to serve our seniors and community-at-large.

CHAMBER MIXER
Thursday, Jan. 15 the Senior Center will be the host of the first Chamber Mixer of the New Year. Appetizers and desserts will be provided by Savvy on First.  Guests will be able to meet the staff and Board of Directors, while touring the recently updated facility.

CABARET SHOW
The next special event planned is a Cabaret Show on Feb. 7. The cabaret style was chosen in order to keep the cost of tickets very low. “My Funny Valentine” stars the nationally-known team of Sandy and Richard Riccardi, who have performed their all-original, all-comedy cabaret across the country. Tickets are just $15 per person.  The Senior Center will provide tables, table cloths and candlelight. Guests may bring whatever they’d like to eat and drink. (Coffee, tea and water are also provided.) Join us!
