Credo for life
Editor: I want to thank Ginny Carroll for including the article “Desiderata” in her column last week. It was new to me, and I found it very reassuring and encouraging, especially in these troubled times. However, in search of a printable copy online, I discovered that it was actually written about 1920 by Max Ehrmann, a lawyer from Indiana. The pastor of Old St. Paul’s Church in Baltimore has included it in some inspirational readings for his congregation. Somehow a myth developed that it was written in the year of the founding of the church in 1692. No matter, it’s going on my refrigerator. It is indeed a credo for life.
