The Windsor High School track team played host to visiting Cardinal Newman in a North Bay League dual meet on April 27, gaining an even split in the varsity team competition.
The varsity girls, led by multiple individual winners Maddie Call (100, 300 Hurdles, Long Jump), and Giselle Saleby (100, 200 Meters), scored a 77-37 win over the Cardinals.
The Cardinals won the varsity boys competition 78-49, but Windsor got great efforts from individual winners Casey McLaughlin, Scott Mclaughlin, Marcel Sands, and Anthony Spallino.
“I like the contributions we’re getting from our young kids, the freshmen and sophomores,” WHS coach Doug Hastings said, citing the efforts of Scott Mclaughlin in the hurdles, Casey Mclaughlin in field events and Raven Davis in sprints. “We like the base of this group and know we can build on it.”
Next up for Windsor is an NBL tri-meet at Ukiah on May 4. The NBL trials and finals are scheduled for May 11-13 at Casa Grande.
