Three athletes qualify to MOC this weekend
The Windsor High School track team sent a dozen kids to the North Coast Section Redwood Empire Qualifying meet hosted by Piner High School on May 21, an event that included the top athletes in the area.
The goal for most participants was a top-seven finish, good for advancement to the weekend’s Meet of Champions (MOC) at Edwards Stadium in Berkeley on May 27-28, the final qualifier for the CIF State Championships in June.
The top three finishers in each event at the MOC will advance to the State meet.
In all, the Running Jags qualified three athletes in five events to the MOC.
Windsor’s qualifying athletes are Maddie Call (100, 300 hurdles, long jump), Giselle Saleby (100 meters), and William McTaggart (shot put).
Following the meet, WHS head coach Doug Hastings acknowledged the hard work put in by his veterans this season.
“To seniors Willam (McTaggart), Filiberto (Zuniga), Giselle (Saleby) and Alyssa (Stewart) we say thank you,” Hastings said. “To Raven (Davis), Scott (McLaughlin), the boys 4 x 100 relay team, Kelsi (Granneman) and Maddie (Call) we’re excited about their success and what they bring for next season.”
