Carson Ramocinski, a local teen, was bound for success after his grandmother taught him the baseball basics at age 2.
“[We] came back from a vacation in Europe and my mom, who at the time was about 84 years old, had taught him how to throw, hit and catch a ball,” said Brian Ramocinski, Carson’s father. “We were gone for two and a half weeks and he was a baseball player at 2 years old.”
The Lamorinda Trojans, a Bay Area nationally ranked baseball team, took first place at the 12U championships in Yaphank, Long Island on Sunday, July 31.
Carson Ramocinski, a 13-year-old Windsor resident, has played with the team since the end of last year. The team, based out of Walnut Creek, practiced every Wednesday night in Oakland.
“Even during the school year he goes to practice down there and gets home at about 11 p.m.,” Brian said.
The team is now playing a national tournament in Orlando, Florida, and they’re playing against 13 year olds in the new season, which began Aug. 1.
The biggest highlight for Carson, Brian said, were his multiple home runs. His main two positions are shortstop and pitcher.
“He practices 100 percent and he plays 100 percent,” Dave Avila, the Windsor all-star coach, said.
Avila described Carson as a self-learner, humble, hard working 13-year-old. Avila will be leading an all-star team called the Windsor Warriors to Cooperstown, New York, for a week long, guaranteed seven game tournament for 11 to 12 young players.
Avila said the community support was very strong and they helped the team out quite a bit. Unfortunately, Carson will not be on that team, but he will be missed, Avila said.
Carson had to miss the Windsor baseball all-star tournament in Southern California this year due to the Long Island tournament. This will be Carson’s last year in Windsor’s baseball league after four years, but he will continue on the Walnut Creek team. Carson has played travel ball since he was 9 years old, starting at the Redwood club in Santa Rosa, then he was quickly recruited to the Walnut Creek team.
