Athletes of the Week
Throughout the school year, the Windsor Times will name a male and female athlete of the week. Recipients will receive a free small soda, small bag of chips and sandwich from Pohley’s Market.
Pignataro a consistent diamond veteran
Senior third baseman Joey Pignataro has assumed a leadership role on and off the field for the varsity Jaguars this season, doing the job in all facets of the game. A steady glove man, Pignataro is a rock of stability at the hot corner. He’s also pretty good with a bat in his hands, as evidenced by a two-run double on Saturday to help key a 6-5 win over Alameda.Â
Hernandez an emerging talent for softball team
Freshman shortstop Gracie Hernandez is enjoying a break-out softball campaign for the young and talented Lady Jag’s varsity squad, emerging as one of the team’s best players. Hernandez had her skills on full display in a March 16 visit to Healdsburg, contributing two hits and three runs batted in while turning a double-play on defense to lead a 16-1 rout over the Greyhounds.  Â
