Windsor scores wins over Rancho Cotate, Maria Carrillo
The Lady Jaguars navigated the soft part of the North Bay League schedule in a pair of road and home outings this week, scoring decisive wins over Rancho Cotate and Maria Carrillo.
At press time Windsor (5-6, 11-12) was tied with Casa Grande for fifth place in the NBL standings with three regular season games remaining. The Jags will resume league action on Friday, Feb. 3 at Montgomery. Windsor will wrap up league play with games at Cardinal Newman (Feb. 7) and home versus Ukiah (Feb. 9). Tip-off times starting with the frosh are 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.

Windsor set the tone for a winning week in a Jan. 30 visit to Rancho Cotate, as guards Tori Russotti and Hannah May lit it up from three-point range to power their team to a 15-4 first-quarter cushion. The teams played on even terms in the second period as the Jags led at the half 28-13.
The Cougars began a spirited comeback in the third quarter to eventually make it a two-point game early in the fourth. The Jaguars regrouped in the final five minutes of play to escape with a 55-49 win.
Pacing the Windsor attack were May (15 points, 6 rebounds), Gabby Giddings (15 points, 4 rebounds), Mattie Murphy (13 points, 8 rebounds) and Russotti (8 points, 6 rebounds).
It was all Windsor in a Feb. 1 home clash with Maria Carrillo, capitalizing on a big size advantage to gain separation. The Jaguars led 21-10 at the half and emptied their bench after intermission en route to a 34-19 victory.
Giddings led the way with 11 points and 9 rebounds, while other top scorers included Murphy (8 points, 9 rebounds) and Jackie Vieyra (6 points).
