The varsity Jaguars pushed their unbeaten North Bay League basketball record to 3-0 on Jan. 11, scoring a 60-46 win over the visiting Rancho Cotate Cougars.
The Jags (12-3 overall) will resume league action on Friday, Jan. 13 when they visit Maria Carrillo in a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
Wednesday’s clash with the Cougars featured a hotly contested first half, as the Jags led 15-12 at the end of one and took a 29-25 into the break.
Windsor kicked up the intensity on the defensive end in the third quarter, outscoring Rancho 16-11 in the period to open up a nine-point advantage. The Jags put the hammer down in the fourth quarter on their way to a 60-46 win.
“We played better defensively most of the second half and that allowed us to pull away,” Jags coach Travis Taylor said. “We were able to capitalize on our size advantage in the post and on the glass. The guards did a good job of getting the ball inside,” he added.
Justin Smith led the attack with 26 points and 8 rebounds, including five shots from three-point range. Other top scorers were Riley Smith (16 points, 5 boards), Travis Carlozzi (14 points, 17 rebounds), and Kobe Roman (4 points).
