Windsor visits sixth seeded Redwood in playoff openerĀ
The Windsor Lady Jaguars were rewarded for a tough schedule and hard-fought league campaign on Sunday at the North Coast Section seeding meeting, landing the number 11 seed in the NCS Division 2 playoffs.
At the time of this writing, the Jags (12-14) were prepping for an opening round visit to sixth seeded Redwood (20-8) in an opening round match-up on Feb. 21 (7 p.m.) in Larkspur. Should Windsor pull off a win, it will advance to face the victor of the Acalanes-Rancho Cotate game in the quarterfinals on Friday, Feb. 24 (7 p.m.).
ā€œWe were expecting to get the 10th or 11th spot so that came as no surprise to us,ā€ Jags head coach Jeff Paul said. ā€œRedwood has two post players right around six feet tall which will be a good challenge for us. Our post tandem of Gabby Giddings and Mattie Murphy have been playing well offensively, so if we can get some consistent scoring from our guards we really like our chances to get a first-round win.ā€
The complete list of NCS Division 2 teams in seeding order is Miramonte, Montgomery, Acalanes, Tamalpais, Concord, Redwood, El Cerrito, Ukiah, Alameda, Livermore, Windsor, Casa Grande, Newark Memorial, Rancho Cotate, Kennedy and Hayward.
