Windsor’s Gracie Hernandez was among a strong core of underclassmen for the Lady Jaguars in a resurgent 2017 softball campaign.

Windsor ends winning campaign with 17-8-1 record
The Lady Jaguars wrapped up a resurgent varsity softball campaign on May 24, falling to Antioch in the opening round of the North Coast Section Division 2 playoffs.
The loss gave Windsor a final season record of 17-8-1.
Although still stinging from the playoff loss this week, head coach Morgan Rasmason had nothing but positives to reflect on in her first year at the helm.
“As a first-year coach I couldn’t be happier with how our season went,” she said. “Ashley (Golding) and Maddie (Pellman) were great seniors to have and we’re looking forward to next year since we’ll only be losing two players (to graduation).”
Windsor entered the NCS playoff tournament as the #7 seed, but was forced to go on the road to face #10 Antioch due to a snafu in the paperwork.
The Panthers did their damage in the third inning, plating three runs for all the offense they’d need the rest of the way. Trailing by one run, Windsor’s would-be rally in the seventh inning was thwarted when Antioch turned a double play to preserve a 3-2 win.
“Throughout the season we’ve had a trouble inning like that and it’s one thing I’m looking to work on and hopefully limit next year,” Rasmason said. “I do think we should have hit better earlier in the game.”
