The Jaguars left little doubt about league supremacy in a much anticipated dual meet showdown against defending North Bay League champion Ukiah on Jan. 30, mauling the Wildcats on their home mat, 51-21.
“One of the key matches for us was actually a loss by our freshman Jon Fredrickson who weights 88 pounds and half of that is his heart,” head coach Rich Carnation said. “He gave up 25 pounds to his opponent and lost by a decision but it was inspiring and set the tone for the rest of the night.”
Scoring mat victories for Windsor were 115-pound Brennen Tamayo (10-3 decision), 122-pound Blake Fredrickson (by fall), 128-pound Justin Campbell (by fall), 134-pound Connor Brown (by 13-2 major decision), 140-pound Brennan Brown (by 14-1 major decision), 154-pound Gil Brantley (by fall), 172-pound Lorenzo Leon (by 21-13 major decision), 197-pound Alex Cruz (by fall) and heavyweight Cooper Stangland (by fall).
The win kept the Jaguars unbeaten in league dual meets at 6-0, with just a Wednesday, Feb. 7 visit to Casa Grande left on the schedule. The Jags will compete in the North Coast Section Division 2 Duals Championships on Saturday, Feb. 10 at El Molino (9 a.m.). The NBL Championship Tournament will take place on Feb. 17 at Montgomery High School.
“If we can get by Casa Grande this week then I think we’re in good shape,” Carnation noted. “We just need to get rid of the flu that’s been affecting a lot of our kids and I like our chances at the NBL tournament.”
