Track & field meet at Montgomery showcases local talent
Windsor athletes showcased their talent and athleticism at the North Coast Extravaganza track and field meet on Saturday at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa, a unique event that featured hundreds of participating athletes.
The meet included a variety of relay distances and was highlighted by a pentathlon, a rarity among high school meets.
The Running Dogs were represented by a small but strong contingent of athletes in both relay and individual field events.
Top performances for the varsity boys included Ralph Manalac, who took first place in the 110 Meter High Hurdles in a fast 16.95, logging a second place effort in the 400 Intermediate Hurdles in 1:04.70.
Also turning in strong individual efforts were Casey McLaughlin, who captured first place in the Long Jump (19’ 10”) and second in the Triple Jump (39’ 9”) and brother Scott McLaughlin who took second place in the 110 Meter High Hurdles (17:31).
The boys 4 x 800 Meter Relay team of Hunter Larson, John Cionci, Lucas Chung and Vince Corday took second in 8:53.65, while the 4 x 1,600 Meter Relay team of Larson, Zach Passalacqua, Brady English and Simon Peterson finished fifth overall.
Kaitlyn Macaulay led the individual varsity girls contingent with a pair of 14th place finishes in both the Discus (74’ 7”) and Shot Put (25’ 4”).
In addition, the varsity girls 4 x 800 Meter Relay team of Bailey Campanella, Erin O’Mara, Jayda Pignataro and Kaliana Brown logged a fourth place effort, while the 4 x 1,600 Meter Relay team of Campanella, Brown, O’Mara and Erika Hovland also finished in fourth place.
