The Windsor High School girls golf team has been arguably the surprise of the North Bay League Redwood Division this season, showing a remarkable improvement since the start of the year.
That transformation was on display in their latest pair of matches, beginning with a 269-273 upset win over Montgomery on the Vikings’ home course at Bennett Valley in Santa Rosa.
Sophomore Alana Stadum led the team with a 47, her best round of the season. Rounding out the Windsor scoring were Katie Mullins (52), Roisin Averill (53), Lauren Runft (58) and Olivia Dyche (59).
On Oct. 4, the Jaguars played host to unbeaten Healdsburg at the Windsor Golf Club, playing arguably their best match of the season in falling, 298-300. Averill led the way with a round of 54, followed by Mullins (57), Stadum (58), Elka Piotter (65) and Runft (66).
“We gave Healdsburg a run for their money,” assistant coach Joe Stadum said. “Overall, we’ve had a great season with several new girls really stepping up.”
Windsor (3-5) will wrap up NBL regular season play with matches against Piner and El Molino.
The league tournament will be held next Monday, Oct. 15 at the Oakmont East Golf Club in Santa Rosa.
