It was the opening weekend of league play for Our Lady of Guadalupe’s 25 Catholic Youth Organization teams. This week’s game of the week was a 48-41 victory over St. Eugene of Santa Rosa for coach Rene Meza’s 8th grade boys’ team.

The teams were evenly matched as they were tied after the first quarter, at the half and ended the third quarter knotted up at 31-31. But the fourth quarter was all OLG. It was back and forth early in the quarter until Joey Meza hit a big three pointer and two free throws down the stretch to seal the win for the Windsor squad. Meza led all scorers with 14 points. Jaxon Leo and Johnny Bettiga followed with ten and six respectively. Aidan Garcia and Micah Nielsen both added four points.

North Bay CYO league games are held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Windsor Middle School. The public is invited to attend all games. The OLG CYO has 265 kids playing this season. For more information about OLG CYO basketball email [email protected].
