The season ended on the championship podium for three Our Lady of Guadalupe Church teams. Six teams had advanced to the title game in North Bay Catholic Youth Organization play.
The first winner was Coach Steve Kramer’s 4th grade Division 1 team. The local boys had to defeat rival St. Rose in a 39-38 thriller. Cade Taylor’s two free throws with thirty seconds left sealed the win but St. Rose had a final shot that missed at the buzzer. Keyen Nevarez and Charlie Kramer led OLG with eight and seven points respectively.
The 4th grade roster included coaches Travis Taylor and Steve Kramer and players Tanner Boyce, Jackson LePera, Charlie Kramer, Jeremiah Harrison, Cade Taylor, Tyler Martens, Ethan Overdorf, Nolan Karriker, Gage Skerrett and Keyen Nevarez.
Coach Rene Meza’s team beat St. Francis 54-37 to win the 8th grade boys Division 3 crown. Joey Meza was the top scorer with 15 points. Micah Nielson followed with nine points. Aidan Garcia and Angel Calderon added eight apiece. The team included coaches Matt Calegari and Rene Meza, and players Jack Domenichelli, Davis Beeler, Johnny Bettiga, Jaxon Leo, Aidan Garcia, Angel Calderon, Joey Meza, Alex Bartolomei, Joe Villasenor, Jackson Calegari and Micah Nielson.
The 8th grade boys Division 2 team capped off an undefeated season by beating St. Apollinaris 43-31. Coach Enrique Vigil’s team trailed by six at halftime but used Jayden Russotti’s hot hand to grab the victory. Russotti finished with a game high 20 points. The roster included coaches Jim Geist and Enrique Vigil and players Jayden Cameron, Jayden Russotti, Xavier Vigil, Bryson Chapula, Gio Lucchesi, Joseph Bettiga, Conner Contreras, Garrett Baer, Christian Trechter, Seth Zahner, Ben Geist and Finn Grace.
