Local teams battling for playoff titles
Six teams from Our Lady of Guadalupe Church won semi-final games and have advanced to play in this weekend’s Catholic Youth Organization championship game.

Coach Chris Trusendi’s 5th grade girls opened Saturday with a 22-11 win over St. Elizabeth. Kate Blanchard and Olivia Wright led the scoring with ten and eight points respectively. OLG’s 4th grade girls followed with a 26-18 win over St. Elizabeth. Avery Vinson was Coach Kyle Corriea’s top scorer with 16 points.

The boys got the winning started with Coach Jason Wright’s team beating St, Vincent 41-24. Max McFerren was the top scorer with 14. Coach Rene Meza’s 8th grade boys’ team advanced to the finals with a 44-29 win over St. Sebastian. Aidan Garcia and Joey Meza both had nine points to lead the team.

Coach Enrique Vigil’s 8th grade boys team finished the day with a convincing 52-21 win over St. Eugene. Ben Geist was the game high scorer with 13 points. On Sunday Coach Steve Kramer’s 4th grade boys beat St. Vincent to gain a spot in the finals. Charlie Kramer and Jeremiah Harrison were top scorers with 11 and ten points respectively.
