Club Midnight at the Drive-In to have ‘50s theme
Windsor High School’s Booster Club is hosting their fifth annual Club Midnight New Year’s Eve bash, complete with a funky, fun ‘50s theme, on the night of Dec. 31. Aptly called Club Midnight at the Drive-In, the event will burst at the seams with dancing, casino games, champagne, food, a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle.
Proceeds from the event will go to the nonprofit booster club, and in turn to all extracurricular activities on the Windsor High School campus.
“People can expect to have a good time that’s local; they’ll know people there. We have people who come in their 80s, and 21 year olds who we’ve supported during their years at the high school also come. It’s a really fun night and the food is always good,” said Sherri Kahn, concession chairman for the Booster club.
Kahn said that the event will provide transportation to people who aren’t able to drive home after the party is over.
“It’s important to the community because people can celebrate locally. As far as we know it’s the only New Year’s Eve event in Windsor. It’s supporting the high school so that the students have safe places to go after school for the extracurricular activities. It’s a hometown feeling,” Kahn said.
Dancing to a DJ, food and champagne will all be included in the ticket price. Food will include a popcorn machine, hot dogs, hamburgers and dessert. Kahn said that cheese plates and other options will also be available to nibble. Her husband, David, who is president of the booster club, does all the cooking. A film that goes along with the ‘50s theme will also play silently on a wall at the party. A bar, and casino games including blackjack, craps and roulette will also be at the event, with separate pricing. The winners of the casino games will receive prizes.
Club Midnight will host a silent auction, with prizes like tickets to Disneyland and California Adventure, tickets to Sonoma Canopy Tours, wine, dinners to restaurants on the Town Green and a Christmas tree from the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree Grove, which the winner will receive next year.
The boosters are still getting donations for the auction, which are always welcome.
“We take anything that’s legal, we’re not picky on donations!” Kahn said.
The club is expecting around 200 guests to attend the event.
After the snack bar the boosters run at home sporting events.
Club Midnight is the boosters’ biggest fundraiser.
The countdown to midnight will take place at the Mary Agatha Furth Center, 8400 Old Redwood Highway, on Dec. 31 from 8:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
Tickets are $45 per person until Dec. 25, after which they will be $50. Tickets can be purchased at the Windsor High School office, WHS home sporting games, the Windsor Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center, Atrellis on the Town Green, (816 McClelland Drive), or by emailing the boosters at [email protected]. You must be 21 years old to attend. Those attending are encouraged to dress in a ‘50s theme.
