Vice-chairman was asked to step down by Steve
Allen

Vice-Chairman Jeff Leasure announced his resignation from the
Planning Commission at the tail end of the April 11 meeting.
&#8220I was appointed by Steve Allen, and I have been asked
to resign my position effective May 9 – I will be leaving after
that meeting,” he told present commissioners David Williams and
Debbi Ling. &#8220I appreciate working with all of you,
including Robin (Goble) and (Chairman) Don (Albini, who was
absent). It’s been a great experience, and I hope to have the
opportunity to serve in this capacity or another body in the
future.”
Each Councilmember appoints a planning commissioner. Last year,
Commis-sioner Lois Fisher abruptly resigned at the request of Lynn
Morehouse, who replaced her with Williams.
Allen said he asked Leasure, who has served since June 2002 to
step down as their visions for Windsor have grown apart.
&#8220I decided it was time to replace Jeff,” Allen said.
&#8220I’ve been looking at that and thinking about it. Our
interests have slowly grown apart, and I just really appreciate
Jeff’s service. Š He’s been there, obviously, as a volunteer and a
great servant to the Town of Windsor.”
While praising his former commissioner, Allen admitted to some
disagreements with Leasure.
&#8220We have had some disagreements on the direction the
Town needs to be growing in,” he said.
Applications to fill the vacant seat will be available
immediately, and Allen said he hopes to have a new commissioner
lined up in time for the May 23 meeting, which would mean making an
appointment at the May 17 Town Council meeting.
&#8220I am waiting to see what comes in,” Allen said.
&#8220I had one thought – the person I had on the planning
commission last time expressed some interest. We’ll just have to
wait and see what all comes in.”
Town staff said the recruitment process will be led by Town
Clerk Maria De La O, beginning on April 24. Finalized deadlines to
apply will be announced later.
Reached Monday, Leasure declined to discuss his removal beyond
saying that it was not his choice to leave.
&#8220Steve is the person who appointed me and asked me to
resign,” he said.
