A Message from the Parks and Facilities Division
The Town of Windsor Parks and Facilities Maintenance Division oversees the maintenance of town parks, streetscapes and public facilities. The division strives to provide a safe and pleasing environment for the public and town staff. The division understands the importance of performing at a high level while displaying the town’s core values of accountability; communication; integrity; professionalism; teamwork and collaboration.
Three values that are regularly emphasized are communication, teamwork and collaboration. These values are at the forefront of the day-to-day operations that include projects, maintenance and planning. Division staff meet daily as a team and focus on planned work and current town management and public concerns. As a result, the division is responsive to maintenance needs and improvement projects with limited resources. Many projects include communication and coordination between other town departments, civic groups, non-profits and businesses, including public outreach efforts to Windsor residents. Established project teams work toward common goals through collaboration, cross-training and networking. Projects may involve all levels of staffing where teamwork and communication are paramount to their success.
Most projects include teams of architects, project managers, multiple contractors and several staff members that may include the recreation division, town engineers, risk management and the finance department. Communication is essential for the project to be completed safely, on time and on budget.
Recent projects
Recent town projects include the installation of playground equipment on the Town Green and at Lakewood Meadows Park, as well as an audio-visual upgrade for the town council chambers.
The town park renovation projects will provide a safe, clean and updated play environment for the community.  The town Green playground is in the process of receiving a complete renovation with updated play equipment, surfacing, seating and shade. In the fall of 2016, Lakewood Meadows Park also received a playground renovation and in the spring of 2017 will receive new outdoor fitness equipment as part of the town’s commitment to the health and well-being of all Windsor residents.
The audio-visual upgrade for the town council chambers enlisted the knowledge of standard construction and technical expertise. The upgrade included a new control panel, broadcast room, equipment, a new projector, new room monitors and cameras. Window coverings were also improved to better enhance the benefits of the new environment.
In an ongoing effort to create community through people, parks and programs, the Parks and Facilities Maintenance Division will continue to combine teamwork and communication as a foundation for successful outcomes that contribute to the quality of life in Windsor.
