You’re invited to stop in soon to meet Aleta Dimas, our library’s new branch manager. As a memory aid, I told her that I would simply remember that A-Leader is here. She appreciated the jest, and said that when she was little, her dad’s friend had said: “She’s not a litre, she’s a half gallon.”

After growing up in Lagunitas, Mrs. Dimas did her undergrad work at UC Santa Cruz,  then completed her Masters at San Jose State. Remaining in that city for the next 12 years, she worked with a variety of library programs, including those for little kids and teens, as well as families. According to Aleta, “San Jose is very innovative, always ready to embrace change.  My last two years, as a branch manager, I learned about supporting and leading staff through new projects and improvements to library services.  I’m delighted to be a part of the Sonoma County Library system, and to contribute to the improvements made possible by Measure Y.”

And being here in Windsor? She said, ““I’m so happy to have returned to the North Bay, and love the wide variety of age groups in this area, lots of families as well as seniors, and the very active FoWL (Friends of Windsor Library) group.  My passion is to bring more people in to the library; they’ll find what they love about the services we offer.  And we’re always looking for suggestions – if you have a particular interest, tell us what you’d like to see more of, or how we can enhance our services to the community.”

Right now Mrs. Dimas is looking forward to meeting folks in our town’s different councils, organizations, and clubs — and you!  She’s good-humored, enthusiastic and well prepared for our library’s continued success — a leader.
