At Mattie Washburn Elementary, the months of January and February rang in the new year with much excitement. Our annual parent information night packed the library with more families than chairs, and provided important information about our campus and programs.
The following week saw the annually celebrated “one hundredth day of school”. Learning stations designed by teachers for our students were successfully facilitated, thanks to a number of parents who volunteered their time and talents. The staff and students also enjoyed the “Dress Up Like You’re 100 Years Old” event, which brought laughter and lively conversation to the site.
On Feb. 2, we enjoyed one of our first visual and performing arts events, “I am VIBRANT,” sponsored by Pulse Arts and the Windsor Unified School District. Here, community artists worked with students and families to provide a number of visual arts, dance and music experiences, as well as a collaborative mural that will beautify our playground.
With all the excitement here at Mattie Washburn, it’s no wonder our early registration for 2019–20 saw an increased number of registering families compared to last year this time. We continue to take registration for next year in our front office.
The evenings of Feb. 26 to 28 will be memorable, with our upcoming book fair and guest readers event. Be sure to visit the Mattie Washburn website and Facebook page for more information about upcoming events.
