Analy pushes record to 3-1-1
The Lady Tigers continued to prep for the upcoming Sonoma County League soccer season with a pair of matches against tough opponents, recording a win against Rancho Cotate and a draw with Windsor.
The result pushed Analy’s preseason record to a strong 3-1-1, with one game left on the pre-league schedule. At press time the Tigers were preparing to visit Ukiah on Tuesday, Dec. 12 before taking a two-week holiday break.
The Tigers played host to visiting Rancho Cotate in a Dec. 4 match, taking a 1-0 lead into the half. The floodgates opened after intermission, with Analy scoring three insurance goals in the second period to notch a 4-0 win.
Goal scorers for the Tigers included Macee Wacholz (2), Claire Brown and Tannin Klunis, with assists from Brown Jennah Copeland (2).
“We really came together and the girls played very well,” Tigers coach Brittney Briones said. “I thought we moved the ball well, found seams, and made great runs.”
Analy traveled to Windsor to take on the Jaguars on a chilly night on Dec. 6, with the teams engaging in a well-played match that ended in a scoreless tie.
“We had an amazing performance from our keeper, Jennah Copeland, Briones reported. “She really stood on her head and kept us in the game.”
Analy played without several key players in the match, but others stepped up to fill the void.
“The girls played very well despite having six players out (almost all starters) with injuries,” Briones noted. “We had moments of great ball movement, runs, and stellar defensive play. Rachel Harris, Claire Brown, Jennah Copeland and Megan Lucas had standout performances.”
