The Tigers refused to relinquish West County high school bragging rights in the second of two meetings with El Molino on April 26, easily defeating the visiting Lions 11-1 in five innings.
The win completed a season sweep and kept Analy tied with Petaluma atop the Sonoma County League standings at 7-1 and 15-5 overall. The Tigers and Trojans will square off in a title showdown in Petaluma on Thursday, May 3 followed by a visit to second place Sonoma Valley on May 4. Both games start at 4 p.m.
The Lions (2-5, 3-12) resume league action this week against visiting Petaluma on May 1 (after press time) and travel to Piner on May 3 (4 p.m.). El Mo returns home to host Elsie Allen on May 4 (4 p.m.).
Tigers secure bragging rights
The second “Apple” game of the season on April 26 may also be the last in the foreseeable future, as league realignment takes hold next year. The teams will be placed in different divisions in an effort to achieve competitive balance.
The Tigers quickly erased a 1-0 deficit, pushing across a combined nine runs in the second and third innings. Analy added two more in the fifth to force an early stoppage after five innings on the mercy rule, claiming an 11-1 victory.
Carson Rasmussen (5 IP, 2 hits, 0 ERs, 8 Ks) notched the win, while El Mo pitcher Erika Olson (4 IP, 16 hits, 4 ERs, 1 K) took the loss. Pacing the 16-hit Analy attack were Claire Nelson (3 for 3, 2B, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), Rasmussen (3 for 4, 2 runs, RBI), Makayla Kraemer (2 for 4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) Samantha Caughie (2 for 2, 3B, 2 runs), Gianna Bianchi (2 for 4, run, RBI), Nicole Mearns (2 for 4, run, RBI), Chloe Hadrich (1 for 2, run, RBI) and Cameron Cordoza (1 for 2, 2 RBIs).
Hitting safely for El Molino were Olson (2 for 3, run) and Jordan Rodger (1 for 2, RBI).
In other recent games, the Tigers, scored wins over Elsie Allen (18-0), Ukiah (1-0) and Piner (3-1).
