Lions, Tigers will compete at SCL Championships

The El Molino track team wrapped up a perfect Sonoma County League regular season with a team sweep against Healdsburg and Piner on the Greyhound’s home track on May 2, a huge step toward securing a second straight varsity boys league pennant.
Meanwhile, the Analy Tigers played host to Petaluma in a dual meet on May 2, with the Trojans completing a boys and girls varsity sweep.
Lions defend title
While the El Mo boys slipped past second place Piner 66-63 to likely capture at least a share of their second straight league crown, the Lady Lions also maintained first place with a convincing, 99-54 win over Healdsburg.  The Lady Lions can capture their first title since 2001 with a winning effort at the SCL Championships on Saturday, May 12.
This year’s league finals will be held at Piner High School, with the meet kicking off on Thursday, May 10 at 3:30 p.m. with preliminary races, while the finals start at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
The goal for most participants will be a top-six finish in their respective events, good for advancement to the North Coast Section Redwood Empire qualifier to be held at Santa Rosa High School on Saturday, May 19.
Below are the top varsity finishers for El Molino from the meet.
