PLAY BALL – Sebastopol Little Leaguers ran the bases at Clahan Field as part of Opening Day festivities in 2017. This year’s festivities will take place March 24 and mark the league’s 61st season.

SLL marks 61st season with Clahan Field festivities
The Sebastopol Little league will commemorate its 61st season at Clahan Field in Laguna Park this Saturday, March 24, marking the occasion with a full slate of Opening Day festivities.
The annual rite of spring will start at 11 a.m. and include a cake-walk, home run derby, silent auction, jump houses, carnival games and a fully equipped snack bar and BBQ.
The Opening Day ceremony will feature the traditional introduction of teams, Little League pledge and National Anthem.
This year the SLL will include some 325 players ranging in age from 4 to 16, filling out 35 teams in seven different divisions. Regular season games will run through mid-June, followed by the Tournament of Champions and finishing up with District-35 All Star tournaments in July.
A key change this season is a new bat regulation (adopted by Little League International) that requires every bat to be approved by USA baseball for safety standards. 
The 2017 SLL board consists of President Lou Castleberry, Vice President Jenny Sanchietti, Treasurer Joan Holden, Secretary Carmen Sinigiani, Registrar Dawn Drew, Umpire in Chief Mike Simpson, Coaching Coordinator Sean Drake, Player Agent Brent Ono, Billboard Coordinator Joe Cicero and Elsa Clyde-Garcia, Snack Bar Coordinator Cassandra Greene, Equipment/Uniforms Phil Nichols, Fields Chief Jeffrey Palk, Safety Officer Courtney Ratto, Information Officer Lisa Bauman and At-Large Director John Parodi.
