Analy opens up at #4 ranked Eureka in playoff opener
The Analy Lady Tigers may have lost a battle last week, but in the end they won the war.
The Tigers made a quick exit as the fourth seed in the Sonoma County League Tournament on Feb. 13, falling to top seeded Petaluma 55-43.
All was forgiven on Sunday however as Analy landed the #14 seed in the 15-team North Coast Section Division 3 playoff tourney, set to open this week.
At press time the Tigers (13-14) were preparing to visit #3 seeded Eureka in a first round clash on Feb. 20, with the survivor advancing to meet the winner of the #6 Alhambra versus #11 Kennedy game in the quarterfinals on Feb. 23.
The list of NCS Division 3 playoff teams in order of seeding is Salesian, Cardinal Newman, Eureka, Campolindo, Moreau Catholic, Alhambra, San Marin, Encinal, Novato, Pinole Valley, Kennedy, Albany, Sonoma Valley, Analy and Las Lomas.
Tigers fall to Petaluma Â
Analy squared off against first-place Petaluma for the third time this season in the SCL tourney opener on Feb. 13, spotting the Trojans a nearly insurmountable 23-8 lead after one. The Tigers regrouped to play their hosts on even terms in the last three periods but the damage was done as Petaluma cruised to a 55-43 victory.
Pacing the Analy attack were Julie Ambrose (13 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals), Claire Brown (10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals), Alexis Dibene (5 points, 2 boards, 2 steals), Lauren Murnin (3 points, 2 assists, 1 steal), Lauren Lehmann (3 points, 1 rebound), Aleah Armstrong (2 points, 9 rebounds), Isabel Housman (2 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals) and Bre Lawrence (7 rebounds).
