Popular six-week program runs Fridays til July 27
Local budding athletes will be honing their skills in record numbers this summer with the return of the El Molino High School Mini-Camp series.
The six-week program will be conducted on the El Molino campus each Friday through July 27, with valuable instruction offered for a wide variety of sports, including football, soccer, golf, volleyball, basketball, track, softball, tennis, baseball and wrestling.
Clinics will split into morning (9:30 a.m. to noon) and afternoon (1-3:30 p.m.) sessions aimed at introducing athletes to each sport. The focus will centered be on improving skills, getting exercise and having fun.
All clinics will be conducted by El Molino coaches and athletes. The clinics are open to all athletes entering grades 4-9. Younger athletes are welcome, but only with supervision.
To stay within North Coast Section guidelines, a $5 fee per session will be charged. The fee can be paid in cash or a check made payable to El Molino High School. There is no need to sign up prior to the camp.
The first summer mini-camps were held on June 15 for basketball and volleyball and attracted a huge turnout.
“Last year the volleyball camp only had about 24 kids and this year there was 38,” El Mo head volleyball coach Becky Sani reported. “I think this is a reflection of how we’ve been improving our athletic programs. It’s a great way for us to showcase our teams and reach out to the community.”
