Local high school cross country teams continued to round into form on Friday when the Analy Tigers played host to El Molino at the annual Tiger Twilight meet in Sebastopol.
The meet, held on the Analy track, featured a pair of 3,200-meter races for boys and girls, fun races disguised as excellent speed training for all participants.
“Analy ran pretty well, much better than at the Viking meet last week,” Tiger’s coach Mark Grismer reported. “Both boys and girls teams improved markedly, so I was pleased.”
Both teams logged their share of outstanding performances. The Tigers were led by the emergence of freshman Carolina Dawson, who took first overall in the girls race in 13:06, just ahead of senior teammate Grace Moussa (13:38). Rounding out the top six girls were El Molino’s Sienna Fassett (13:46) and Analy’s Molly Parks (13: 57), Clara Kurzmeier (13:58) and Maddy Christensen (14:02).
The boys 3,200-meter race was equally competitive and led by junior standout Alec Dierke, who finished the distance in a blistering 10:41, some 25 seconds ahead of El Molino’s Jake Chauvin (11:06). Rounding out the top six boys were El Molino’s Cassius Phillips (11:17), Analy’s Rowan Campbell-Voss (11:34), and El Mo’s Grant Feige (11:36) and Jackson Conger (11:40).
The Tigers will hit the trail for a pre-league tune-up this Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Foothill Park in Windsor. The first race is 3:30 p.m.
