OLD HAND - Pat Atkinson is the veteran pitcher for El Molino this season.

Things are heating up on the high school baseball front this week, as local teams get set to make a second half push toward possible postseason berths.
Analy and El Molino are coming off a pair of three-game weeks, with the Tigers notching two wins, while the Lions managed one victory.
At press time Analy (3-6, 7-9) was preparing to take on Maria Carrillo in a two-game set, beginning on April 16 (after press time) in Sebastopol followed by a trip to Carrillo on Friday, April 19. Analy will host Cardinal Newman next Tuesday, April 23. 
The Lions (1-4, 6-7) will square off with Windsor in a home and road series, beginning on April 17 in Forestville (4 p.m.) and at Windsor on April 19. The Lions will host Piner on April 23. All games start at 4 p.m.
Lions top Panthers
El Mo logged a busy week on the North Bay League diamond, beginning with an April 8 visit to Montgomery. The Vikings ended all suspense with a nine-run rally in the second in cruising to a 10-4 rout. Pat Atkinson (1.1 IP, 2 hits, 0 ERs, 2 Ks) took the loss while Sam Wilson-Mietz (4.2 IP, 6 hits, 0 ERs, 3 Ks) shared mound duty. Top hitters were Wilson-Mietz (3 for 3, 2 2Bs, 2 runs, RBI), Cole Van Stone (1 for 4, RBI) and Wyatt Stringfellow (1 for 3, RBI).
The Lions traveled to Santa Rosa for the first of a two-game set, bouncing back from a 4-3 deficit with a four-run rally in their final at-bat to post a 7-5 victory. Jordan Hamner (1.2 IP, 2 hits, ER), Chris Romeo (4.1 IP, 5 hits, 4 ERs) and Andrew Tait (1 IP, 0 hits, 0 runs) all pitched for the Lions. Leading the 11-hit attack were Atkinson (2 for 4, run), Hamner (2 for 4, 3B, 2 runs), Wilson-Mietz (2 for 5, RBI), Van Stone (1 for 5, RBI), Romeo (1 for 3, run, RBI), Sam Kenny (1 for 2, 2 RBIs), Tait (1 for 4, run) and Stringfellow (1 for 1, RBI).
The Lions closed out the string in Friday’s home rematch with Santa Rosa, but it was the Panthers that would come away with an 8-5 win. Wilson-Mietz (5, 7 hits, ER, 3 Ks) took the loss while Weston Lewis (1.2 IP, 1 hit, 2 Ks) and Tait (0.1 IP, 4 hits, 4 ERs) logged mound duty for El Mo. Top hitters included Lewis (3 for 4, run, RBI), Atkinson (2 for 4, run), Wilson-Mietz (2 for 4), Van Stone (1 for 4, run) and Tait (1 for 3, run). 
Tigers take two
Analy began its latest stretch with an April 10 visit to Ukiah, taking a 3-1 lead after four innings. Disaster struck in the fifth, as the Wildcats pushed across four runs on their way to a 6-3 win.
The Tigers were back in the win column the following day in a non-league tilt with visiting San Rafael, collecting 10 hits en route to an 8-4 victory.
Analy wrapped up a busy week in Friday’s rematch with visiting Ukiah, this time erasing a 4-1 deficit with an eight-run explosion in the sixth to notch an eventual 9-5 win. No stats were reported.
